Message from the Principal

I hope you are all well and are taking time to relax and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. Throughout the summer, we will be working to prepare for the 2008-2009 school year and we anxiously await the start of school on September 2nd. I also look forward to working with you through out the year as we strive to provide the highest level of programs and services for our students.
As mentioned above, the 2008-2009 school year begins on Tuesday, September 2nd. Below you will find information that will assist you as you prepare for the start of the school year. Upon review, please feel free to call us with questions.
School Hours
Classroom instruction begins at 7:45 am with students dismissed at 2:30 pm. Students may begin entering the building at 7:30 am with “homeroom” beginning at 7:45 am. Students entering prior to the start of homeroom will report directly to the gymnasium. Please be prompt at pick up and delivery times. The students will be supervised out front until 2:40 then will be required to sit on the bench until a parent or guardian comes in to sign them out. Please, pay close attention to the 12- 1 hour early release Mondays. These days are an excellent time for you to schedule necessary appointments for your children.
School supervision will be provided beginning at 7:30 am. Please do not have students report prior to this time.
Open House
The annual “back to school” Open House will be held on Thursday, August 28th from 1:30-3:30. We encourage all of our parents and students to attend this event as you will have the opportunity to meet teachers and staff members and visit classrooms. Teachers will be available throughout the two hours event so feel free to come at a time that works best for you.
The Bethany Charter School staff has spent a significant amount of time planning for the opening of school to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. We are here to assist you will all issues associated with the opening of school. Please do not hesitate to call us with questions. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on August 28th. I wish you the best through the remainder of the summer.

2008 Student Community Leader of the Year Award
Our student council received the rank of Merit Council from the Oregon Association of Student Councils. This was our second time to receive this ranking. Madeline Kuenzi, one of our 8th grade students also received recognition as a Student Community Leader of the Year. She was one of five students to receive this award from the Oregon Association of Student Councils.
