Message from the Principal

May Flower Greetings to our Bobcat Community,

As I ponder the May calendar with mixed feelings of excitement and “wow, where did the time go?’ I am reminded of another chapter closing on the journey of Bethany Charter School.  We are truly becoming the school where Parents have chosen to bring their children for a fine education.  The Staff, School Board and I have been preparing for another year of growth and improvement for the Charter students next year.  We are always looking at what works and what we can improve on to meet the mission statement for the Charter.  Look forward to these changes that lie ahead: especially geared at our mission:

Bethany Charter School is a K-8 public school chartered by the Silver Falls School District.  Our curriculum focuses on natural sciences and technology enriched with art, music and PE in a small school atmosphere.  We promote academic excellence, fostering respect and a love for learning with strong family and community support.  I continue to remind you of our mission statement because this is where we are going to really take off and focus improvement areas.  We are a charter school driven by this mission and are confident we are ready and excited to work harder at being the charter focused on the mission.  Bethany has worked out many of its growing pains and I thank the parents and students who have helped with this challenge.  The enrollment phase for 2008/2009 school year has been very popular. People are hearing good things about Bethany Charter and wanting to enroll for the reason of the mission now.  This is a huge accomplishment for the Charter.

The children at BCS shared their artistic talents with the community of Bethany on the evening of April 24th. This was a wonderful evening celebrated by the bobcat students, staff and enjoyed by parents.  I was thrilled at the number of people who enjoyed this evening with us.   The only upset to the honorable evening was the shortage of ice cream.  We will be sure to up the order next year.  Thank you for taking the time to be a part of this event with your children.

Be sure to tape the May calendar to your refrigerator.  There is a lot of exciting calendar changes as we wind down the year.  The week of May 5th is teacher appreciation week.  Stop by, thank your child’s teacher, and send a note of appreciation.  The commitment and dedication displayed by our teaching staff to the students at Bethany is commendable.

I am still seeking some volunteers to help paint the windowsills. We have had a few people volunteer and one was a teacher. Don’t be bashful.
Let us hope for warmer weather!

When we take others under our wing, we grow as well.

Mrs.  Frank
